I enjoy dealing with a wide variety of work. I buy and sell houses and businesses, negotiate business leases, make wills and look after people's affairs when they die. I deal with housing work, particularly for tenants in trouble.
I have always liked the idea of the old-style family solicitor who could sort out all your problems.
Outside of the office, I enjoy foreign travel, cooking, cinema and contemporary jazz.

- A drink-driver fleeing the police jumped into their car thinking it was a taxi. One officer said: "I was laughing so much I could hardly put the cuffs on." Gary McGowan, 27, was banned for 18 months and fined 300 by a court in Houghton-le- Spring, Co Durham.
- Police had good luck with a robbery suspect who just couldn't control himself during a line up. When detectives asked each man in the line up to repeat the words, "Give me all your money or I'll shoot," the man shouted, "That's not what I said!"
- A bank robber got a nasty surprise when a dye pack designed to mark stolen money exploded in his Fruit-of-the-Looms. The robber apparently stuffed the loot down the front of his pants as he was running out the door. "He was seen hopping and jumping around," said police spokesman Mike Carey, "with an explosion taking place inside his pants."
- A criminal was arrested for trying to hold up a Bank of America branch without a weapon. He used a thumb and a finger to simulate a gun, but unfortunately, he failed to keep his hand in his pocket.
